Score Delay: Sync Your Foghorn to Your TV
Ever had your Foghorn blast the horn before the goal happened on your TV? Nothing's broken — your Foghorn is actually faster than your broadcast.
Why your Foghorn beats the TV
The Foghorn follows the live data feed, which updates within seconds of the real-world play. Your TV broadcast, though, runs behind reality — cable and satellite add a little delay, and streaming services (YouTube TV, Hulu, ESPN+ and friends) can run 30 to 90 seconds behind the actual game. So the Foghorn celebrates the goal while your screen still shows the faceoff before it.
Some people love the spoiler-horn — you know something great is coming. If you'd rather the horn and the TV celebrate together, that's what Score Delay is for.
Setting it
- Open the Puckhead app and connect to your Foghorn.
- On the Dashboard, find the Delay slider.
- Set the number of seconds to hold the horn back — anywhere from 0 to 120.
- The setting saves to the Foghorn itself, so it sticks even when your phone isn't around.
If you have more than one Foghorn connected, the app syncs the setting to all of them.
Finding your number
Every provider is different, so dial it in once and forget it:
- Cable / satellite: start around 5–10 seconds.
- Streaming services: start around 30–45 seconds, and don't be surprised if you end up higher.
- At the arena or listening to radio: leave it at 0 — you're as live as it gets.
The easy way to calibrate: next goal, count the seconds between the horn and the goal appearing on your screen. That count is your delay setting. One or two goals and you'll have it matched.
One thing to remember: the delay you need can change if you switch how you watch — the sports bar's cable feed and your living-room stream aren't the same. Adjust the slider to match wherever you're watching tonight.
